"Support the 4th Floor" to Outfit Diabetes Center in Stem Cell Building
Proceeds from this year's event go toward outfitting the new diabetes center in the UC Irvine Sue and Bill Gross Stem Cell Research Center.

IRVINE, Calif., Aug. 13, 2009 — The University of California, Irvine Center for Diabetes Treatment and Research announced its third annual fundraiser "Support the 4th Floor." The funds raised at this year's event will go to outfitting the diabetes center's new facility on the fourth floor of the new Sue and Bill Gross Stem Cell Research Center at UC Irvine.
“We are on an aggressive schedule to improve both the treatment and research aspects of diabetes management,” said Dr. Ping Wang,
director, UCI Center for Diabetes Treatment and Research. “Dr. Foster’s transplant expertise and research into new anti-rejection techniques
combined with the promise of stem cell research,
constitutes one of the center’s most exciting
scientific endeavors. This area has the potential to
accelerate our efforts to effectively treat diabetes
and its complications, and ultimately, to cure
diabetes.”
